Enable and change mode
In Settings select the Vim profile or set keyboard.profile = vim in JSON. It starts in insert mode; Esc switches to normal. i returns to insert, a moves one character then inserts, v enters visual, and Esc clears selection.
Movement and editing
- h/j/k/l: left/down/up/right. w/b: next/previous word. $: line end; 0: start (its handler does not extend visual selection).
- In normal: u undoes, x deletes a character, dd deletes a line, gg goes to document start.
- Global shortcuts are processed first. Normal/visual consume unrecognized keys, including Tab, before pane switching.
Profile scope
Does not include Ex commands (:w, :q), counts, registers, macros, Vim search or complete visual operators. Modes are not explicitly reset when changing tabs.
There is a Shift+G branch, but it follows the normal g branch and is not documented as functional. This behavior and pending sequences need additional interaction tests.
